Necessity and potential of case studies for research on climate change in Latin America. A sociological look

Abstract

Attention to climate change is an imperative from science, if you want offer real solutions that target the specificities of the territories. The combination of planning that comes from national goverments with one that is conceived from the local space, it can be key to face this process. If we asume climate change as a natural and social phenomenon, we must focus on look at local actors; those who with their experiences and reproductions of the daily life, configure at the beginning and also at the end, the adaptation experiences, mitigation to this process. This assay focuses on case studies as methodological path that can facilitate understanding of climate change and outline adaptative responses thought and executed from the territories.
