PDF (Español (España))

Abstract

The objective proposed in this project was to demonstrate the incidence of the practical component in the development of abilities and skills of the students, in the knowledge of the main parameters that a pig production system demands, for the implementation of a pilot module of production. A mixed methodological approach with a non-experimental research design was used. The subjects evaluated, such as Genetics, Animal Nutrition, Animal Reproduction, Rural Constructions, Porcinotecnia and Agropecuarios Projects have competencies that identify, describe and characterize the respective objects of study, demanding to have a Pilot Module of Swine Production for Didactic purposes. 80% of the students evaluated through a knowledge test, show a medium level of development of abilities and skills on the various components, these results are evidenced, due to the fact that there is a staff of experienced teachers, added to the field practices that are carried out in pig farms of private companies. The types of convenient practices to elevate the academic process are based on descriptive and comparative methods, since it includes subjects that require working with live specimens. The Pilot Module of Pig Production for Educational Purposes of the Agricultural Careers of the UCSG has as its fundamental purpose, to support the academic process, without neglecting the promotion of research and the perspective of offering advice to the pig sector in the area of action.
